Dues Notice Posted Thursday, May 10, 2012 by Lion May 10, 2012 Regular Member Dear Fellow Seal Beach Lion: This has been another banner year for the Seal Beach Lions Club. We have provided thousands of community service hours and donated over $60,000 to community, regional and international causes this past year. We now have over 200 Lion members and are the largest Lions Club in California. For more than 73 years we have served our community and provided for the less fortunate. We have a great club and a great deal to be proud of. Membership Dues for regular members is $100 per year (July 12-June 13). Most of the dues money goes to paying District and International dues with the remainder used for running the club. It can be paid all at once or $50 now and the remainder by September 30th. WEEKLY ROAR - May 7 - 13 Posted Monday, May 7, 2012 by Lion Braille Beepball Tournament, May 12th: 1pm – McGaugh Field This is our second year sponsoring the beepball (beeping softball) exhibition game between the kids from the Braille Institute and the Seal Beach Pony All-Stars (blindfolded). Please come out to cheer on the players and offer support for this worthwhile community project. The game concludes by 2pm. For more info, contact Lion Scott Weir (scottweir@roadrunner.com) * Lions Meeting: Wednesday, May 16th: 6:45pm Khoury’s District Lions Convention, May 18-20, Ventura, CA This is our annual district convention where clubs and Lions receive recognition. ( Dhubbard@focusdx.com ) Pony Baseball Homerun Derby BBQ, May 19th, McGaugh Field 10-3pm Lions and Leos are cooking for this fun event. Lions Camping Trip: June 1-3: Winchester, California WOW! Only $25 per person for the weekend that includes a Saturday Hoe Down featuring the “Signal Hillbillies” band and a great Tri-tip dinner. They now have a skeet range and horseshoe pits set up for the weekend. See Lion Brad Barras to sign-up (brad@tradesmanconstr.com) Lions Work Day at Camp Teresita Pines, June 2-3: Wrightwood, CA Lion Dave Hubbard is leading a team of Lions to the Lions Camp in Wrightwood for a day of work in the cool mountain air. ( Dhubbard@focusdx.com ) Vision Walk: June 2nd: Anaheim Stadium Lion Diana Bean will lead our walking team at this fundraiser to raise money for vision research. It’s a fun short walk for a good cause. ( aroriley@earthlink.net ) Lions Installation and Awards Night: Saturday, June 16 Marina Center will barely have enough room for this year end event where Lions will be recognized for their hard work and our new officers will be installed.
